“Make your food boring and your life interesting.” Andrew ‘Spudfit’ Taylor
When it comes to weight loss keeping things simple is KEY. The more variety you crave, the more possibility of you consuming foods that aren’t part of your weight loss plan.
When I look at certain weight loss recipe books and see that there are 20 different breakfast ideas and 20 lunches and 20 dinners – it just seems a bit much. I personally eat the same 6 meals on repeat (in different order) and OCCASIONALLY add something new into the mix.
I know it may SOUND boring, but it’s not.
Eating the same, ‘boring’ things day in and day out has several benefits.
- You always know EXACTLY what to buy at the grocery store. For me, that’s a 10 lb. bag of russet potatoes, oatmeal, frozen blueberries, bananas, spinach and chickpeas. (some other things of course, but I eat those things pretty much every day!)
- Your meal prep is on autopilot – you don’t need to follow recipes or put much thought into making food. It’s easy because you’ve done it hundreds of times before!
- You won’t be accidentally over-consuming certain foods and derailing your weight loss goals.
Google: Andrew ‘Spudfit’ Taylor – he is an extreme example of how this works. He ate only potatoes for a year. It completely simplified his meals, he never had to think about what to make and saved a ton of money!
